Jamieson's Honey Lemon Zinc Lozenges provide zinc in the form of zinc citrate, a highly bioavailable form that is readily absorbed by the body. Ester-C and echinacea have been added to enhance immune system functioning and restore and maintain optimal health.

Restrictions

Drug Interactions: Doxycycline, Minocycline, Tetracycline hydrochloride - zinc may make all of these less effective. Take zinc at least two hours after ingesting these medications.

Nutrient Depletions: Zinc supplementation can cause a copper deficiency. Zinc intakes of 150 to 450 mg per day have been associated with low copper status, altered iron function, reduced immune function, and reduced levels of high-density lipoproteins. It is advised to keep your zinc intake below these levels.

Too much iron and calcium can decrease the absorption of zinc in the body. Take one to two hours apart.

Diuretics, ethambutol, penicillamine, sodium valproate - zinc intake in much of the elderly population may be sub-optimal and, if compounded with certain drugs, can lead to mild or even moderate zinc deficiency.

Alcohol decreases the absorption of zinc and increases loss of zinc in urine. Diarrhea causes zinc loss. Those who have had gastrointestinal surgery or who have digestive disorders that result in malabsorption, such as Sprue, Crohn's Disease and Short Bowel Syndrome, may lack zinc.

Supportive Interactions: Copper, calcium, phosphorus and Vitamin B6 all increase the absorption and effect of zinc.

Warnings and Precautions: Zinc Lozenges should be limited to short term therapy, such as the treatment of cold symptoms for about one week. Do not use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Toxicity, Adverse Reactions and Side Effects: None known when taken as directed, although occasional nausea may be experienced if lozenges are taken on an empty stomach. Echinacea should not be used on an indefinite, continuous basis. Echinacea is well tolerated by most people and its use is usually without side effect. Do not use if you have an allergy to Asteraceae/Compositae (daisy) family.
