Exxtra-C 500 mg Vitamin C is made from Quali-C, a high grade ascorbic acid, in an advanced delivery system that provides superior absorption and bioavailability. The unique microencapsulated beadlet technology allows a gradual release of Vitamin C over eight hours and a sustained release activity of 24 hours.
Furthermore, new clinical studies have shown Exxtra-C to be more bioavailable than other premium Vitamin C products currently on the market. Since it is slowly broken down and released into the gastrointestinal tract, Exxtra-C is also beneficial for individuals who normally have difficulty tolerating Vitamin C in its ascorbic acid form. It is less apt to cause diarrhea or stomach upset.

Restrictions
Drug Interactions
Anti-coagulant medications and tetracycline antibiotics may react adversely with this product. Take Exxtra-C separately from beta-blockers (i.e. propanolol). The following may deplete Vitamin C levels: corticosteroids, anti-asthmatics/bronchodilators, anti-inflammatory agents/mast-cell stabilizing agents/anti-leukotrienes/preventive agents/xanthines, anti-gout drugs, antipyretics, anti-ulcer drugs, cyclosporin, salicylates, tetracyclines. Intake of large amounts of Vitamin C can deplete the body of copper and selenium. Individuals should be sure to maintain adequate copper and selenium intakes at higher intakes of Vitamin C. These are found in many multivitamin-mineral supplements.
Supportive Interactions
Vitamin C enhances the effectiveness of analgesics/non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) as it increases length of time the analgesic stays in the body; anti-acne drugs as it increases drug effectiveness; anti-anginals/nitrates as it maintains drug strength; anti-arthritics, antibiotics, anti-glaucoma, anti-ulcer drugs as it increases drug strength; immunosuppressants as it increases absorption. Vitamin C works well when taken in conjunction with other antioxidants such as Vitamin E and it enhances the absorption of the mineral iron.
Consult a healthcare practitioner prior to use if you have a history of hemochromatosis (an inherited condition that causes excess storage of iron) or if you have thyroid disease. Vitamin C can distort the accuracy of medical tests for conditions such as diabetes, colon cancer, and hemoglobin levels. Inform your physician if you are taking Vitamin C supplements.
Toxicity, Adverse Reactions and Side Effects
