Ingredient Information

Beta-Carotene 15,000 mcg/7,500 mcg RAE. Prepared in a specially formulated nutrient base of carrot, parsley, alfalfa, watercress, lecithin, and rosehips.

Excipients: Cellulose, Dicalcium Phosphate, Vegetable Stearic Acid, Modified Cellulose Gum, Silica, Water-Soluble, Cellulose, Brazilian Palm Tree Wax.

Restrictions

Drug Interactions: Statins, Sibutramine, Orlistat, prenatal drugs.

Nutrient Depletions: HMG-Co A Reductase Inhibitors/Anti-Cholesterol Drugs deplete beta-carotene. Anti-Gout drugs may impair the absorption of beta-carotene.

Supportive Interactions: Beta-carotene is supportive for those on immuno-suppressants.

Warnings And Precautions: Consult your physician before taking if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have hypothyroidism, or kidney or liver disease. People with intermittent claudication should avoid taking beta-carotene. Smokers should avoid taking beta-carotene supplements. There is research to show that beta-carotene supplements may increase the risk of lung cancer in those who smoke.

Toxicity, Adverse Warnings and Side Effects: Beta-carotene supplements have rarely been shown to have any toxic effects. However, doses larger than that recommended may cause palms and soles to turn a yellow-orange tone. This effect will subside when the dose is lowered.
